Early Years:

I was born in Amarillo, Texas, but grew up in Central Illinois, where my family still lives. I became a committed Christian at the age of 18 while a student in college. It was there, through a Campus Ministry group that I first became involved in real ministry and where I met my wife, Nancy.

Education:

I have a B.A. in Sociology from Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, Illinois. I also have a Masters of Religious Education from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.

History:

I first came to the Pittsburgh area in the summer of 1981 after graduating from seminary, when I was called to serve as Minister of Youth and Music at Monroeville Baptist Church located on Haymaker Road in Monroeville Pennsylvania. I also served as Youth and Music Pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Greenwood, Indiana (near Indianapolis) from 1988-1995.

God brought me back to Monroeville in December of 1995 as Minister of Education/Associate Pastor. I was installed as Senior Pastor in September of 1999.

My Family:

My family and I live in Monroeville . Nancy is employed by Gateway School District where she works in the Food Service Department . She loves the interaction with the high school students and staff. She also is very involved in ministry at MCC currently serving as the Children's Choir Director and singing alto on the MCC Worship Team as well as our seasonal Worship Choir. Nancy also plays the trumpet and guitar. We have three children:

Brandon , 24, is a 2005 graduate of  Duquesne University. He is an Elementary School Music teacher in the nearby Penn-Trafford School District . Brandon is actively involved in MCC, serving as an instrumentalist on the MCC Worship
Team. He also sings in our seasonal Worship Choir as well asteaching a Youth Sunday School class and serving on the Youth Leadership Team. He also loves the Pittsburgh Pengins Hockey Team!

Benjamin, 20, is away at school and is a Music Education / Percussion major at IUP in Indiana, PA. He is one of the percussionists on the MCC Worship Team when he is home and also works with the Gateway High School Marching Band Drum Line and also the Gateway HS Indoor Winter Percussion Ensemble. 

Bethany , 17, and is a junior at Gateway High School in Monroeville. She is active in the church youth group and senses God calling her to missions. She will be going to Ecuador in June of 2007 with a small team of youth and adults MCC is sending to the M-Fuge International Camp there. She also plays French Horn in the HS Wind Ensemble and Mellophone in the Gateway HS Marching Band.

Interests:

Besides church and ministry, my interests include: Working Out, Music (singing, playing guitar, trumpet and keyboards), and I love working outside doing yard work in the summer.   I also love to be involved in my kids lives and have made it a priority to be there to watch them play basketball, football, soccer and any other sport they have been part of as well as watching them perform in their musical involvements the past several years. I have served as a volunteer and also traveled with the Drum Corps International group the GLASSMEN Drum and Bugle Corps out of Toledo, Ohio when both Ben and Brandon were members of this touring and performing group. I have also served as a volunteer (chaperone and Pit crew member) with the Gateway HS Marching Band. All three of my kids have been part of the Marching Band at one time or another over the past several years. Since the fall of 1997, I have also been known to many in our community as the "The Voice of the Gateway Marching Band"!
