Nursing Home (Monroeville Manor Care) Ministry.

The purpose of this ministry is to serve individuals who are unable to attend a traditional service due to health issues or special transportation needs.  We believe that the Lord has called us to join Him in this ministry.  Many of the residents are elderly and need to hear the gospel.  We believe that as long as someone has breathe there is hope for salvation.  Others attending are believers who need to continue to hear God's Word and to fellowship with other believers.  Not only do we minister to the residents, but the staff and the families of the residents.

 

We hold a birthday party/celebration for the residents once a month.  During each party homemade, personalized birthday cards are given to those celebrating birthdays that month.  A member of our church creates each card.  We serve angel food or sugar-free cake and sherbet.  Before eating, a short devotion and prayer is given.  After eating and passing out the cards, we do an activity.  It is either a game (bingo, logic, mystery) or a craft.  Sometimes one of our youth will play the piano.  The party generally starts at 2:30 and ends at 4:00.   Once in awhile we have a Pastor come and give the Lord's Supper.

The History of this Ministry

 

One of our members started these visitations in the fall of 2005. Shortly after starting it up, her Sunday School class got behind what she was doing and began to help out.

 

Our Youth and Children's programs have even gotten involved to sing Christmas carols during the Holiday Season.

 

It has since grown from one person, to be a way for an entire church to minister to people who are far too often left out in today's society.

 

Our prayer is that God will be seen as we serve those attending.  We realize that God does not need us to fulfill His purposes, but He delights in us when we are obedient to Him.
